We use Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) measurement as the primary inspection method for pipework and structures.
UT measurements are quantitative and all AISUS UT equipment is calibrated to recognise international standards. Ultrasonic inspection can be undertaken internally, or externally, using our suite of remotely deployed scanning tools.
We use a range of remotely deployed cameras and crawler systems, which means we can carry-out general and close visual inspections, both internally and externally on a wide range of pipework and structures.
Depending on the scope of work, cleaning/ surface preparation can be required to allow close visual inspection or successful collection of ultrasonic data.
We have established working relationships with suppliers of a range of specialist cleaning solutions. This provides us with greater equipment availability and access to expertise which we can call on when dealing with the most challenging cleaning requirements to ensure optimum inspection conditions. Cleaning and surface preparation is managed by our own personnel to ensure an effective and efficient delivery.
We have an in-house design and development team who can manufacture bespoke tooling for challenging inspection and cleaning projects.
Once we understand our client’s requirements and have agreed on a concept, our team can provide a package which includes design, manufacture and testing, through to on-site deployment.
Our engineers have extensive experience in the planning and implementation of these types of projects. We are able to carry out each stage of design and development in-house, allowing for efficiencies in turn-around time.

Once the data has been collected we present it to our clients in the most appropriate manner to ensure the results are clear, usable and providing most value.
We have a range of ‘off the shelf’ tools that can also be customised for certain requirements.
Through our extensive experience of inspecting substructure items including caissons, risers and j-tubes, using our SIRIUS ™, Orion and Scorpius tools, we have recently developed application tools to transfer our visual and ultrasonic inspection capabilities to challenges faced across topsides and subsea.
