Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026
This week shines a spotlight on Scottish apprentices, which we believe at AISUS are driving the next generation in STEM. Our apprentices play an important part of our Team, bringing new ideas, innovation and skills to the forefront of every operation.
Our Apprentices work around the globe gaining hands on experience within the energy sector, from Australia, Middle East and to America. Working with our tools both onshore and offshore gives each of them the opportunity to grow their skills and utilise real world problem solving to overcome challenges.
In the tail end of 2024, I completed a 3-month trip offshore in the Middle East. This provided many challenges, but I felt a strong sense of achievement after completing the job. Gregor Knowles, Level 1 Field Engineer Apprentice.
An AISUS Apprenticeship
At AISUS we are taking on apprentices every year looking to provide a supportive work environment to inspire the next generation and offer real world experiences to build confidence and long lasting careers!
What does a typical Day at AISUS look like for our Apprentices?
A typical day for me revolves around working on tools in the workshop. This includes prepping kit for going offshore and then re-testing tools once they have returned, before sending them on the next job. Gregor Knowles, Level 1 Field Engineer Apprentice.
In the workshop – Testing and packing kit, filling out paperwork for the various scopes we have. Offshore – working hard to deliver our clients the best results possible. – Alex Popovic, Level 2 Field Engineer Apprentice.

Advice For Future Apprentices
What advice would you give to someone thinking about an apprenticeship?
I would strongly recommend an apprenticeship. To gain real world work experience, alongside studies and gaining qualifications, it is a great way to enter the world of work – Gregor Knowles, Level 1 Field Engineer Apprentice.
“I’d say go for it. AISUS are a company who really take interest in your development and welfare, whilst providing a variety of opportunities in the NDT sector” – Alex Popovic, Level 2 Field Engineer Apprentice.
What skills or qualities do you think make a successful apprentice?
A successful apprentice must be willing to listen and learn from senior colleagues. Another key quality to have is a strong work ethic, this means getting stuck in, no matter the task – Gregor Knowles, Level 1 Field Engineer Apprentice.
