On Friday 11 September, AISUS welcomed industry clients, partners, professionals, and students to its latest Demo Day at the company’s yard in Bridge of Don. Once again, Aberdeen delivered a rare day of sunshine, providing the perfect setting for guests to see the latest remote inspection technology in action, engage with technical experts, and network with industry peers.
The event attracted more than 70 attendees from across the energy sector, including representatives from offshore operations, decommissioning, onshore civil engineering, SPE members, and university students. It was encouraging to see such a diverse range of guests interested in the inspection solutions AISUS provides for challenging and complex environments.
Throughout the day, attendees witnessed live demonstrations of AISUS’ robotics and inspection technologies. From crawlers manoeuvring across the yard and climbing pipework structures to robotic systems navigating confined spaces, guests were able to see first-hand how these solutions operate in real-world scenarios.
The standout demonstration featured AISUS’ recently deployed Clamshell technology, a bespoke solution designed and manufactured in-house by the company’s R&D team for inspecting a 6-inch offshore riser pipe. The technology has also been adapted and scaled for an application on a jacket structure in Australia. All inspection solutions on display were equipped with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities, including Ultrasonic Testing and Pulsed Eddy Current technology. Demonstrations also included AISUS’ robotic manipulator arm, developed for confined space entry applications, particularly refinery cyclone inspections in onshore environments.
Guests also attended data management sessions led by Urmila, Data Scientist at AISUS. These sessions explored how machine learning is transforming asset integrity management by predicting future wall thickness across entire structures and grading assets using a simple health, caution, or critical risk scale. As the same models can be transferred between assets, operators can assess and rank entire portfolios by risk rather than waiting years for inspection campaigns. The result is a decision-ready assessment that highlights where wall thinning is likely to occur and where failures may develop first.
To round off the day, guests enjoyed wood-fired pizzas from Scottish Pizza & Co, with the Italian haggis pizza proving particularly popular. AISUS was also pleased to welcome local charity Clan Cancer Support, Northeast Scotland, one of the company’s chosen charity partners for 2026, raising awareness of the valuable support the charity provides throughout the local community. Through fundraising activities on the day, AISUS proudly raised £500 for the charity and extends its thanks to everyone who contributed.
